The purpose of this assessment is for students to discuss the importance of counsellors’ receptiveness when applying ethically informed culturally responsive counselling practices when working with clients from multicultural backgrounds.

An academic essay is a genre that requires the student to investigate a topic and reach a conclusion. The essay should present a central idea or argument that is supported by evidence from academic sources.

An academic essay is not just about describing or summarising a topic. It involves providing critical analysis of thetopic that is supported by evidence.

The essay will need to include:

1. An introduction to the essay.
2. Definitions ofethical counselling practice and culturally responsive counselling practice.
3. A discussion of ethically informed culturally responsive practices(e.g., ethical decision-making processes; informed consent;confidentiality and privacy etc);
4. A discussion of how and why these elements are foundational to ensure receptiveness to the client’s uniqueworldview through multicultural counselling and interviewing
