Assessment Scenario for Task 1

Your company often has new clients who are confused about who will be involved in their project, and what their responsibilities are.

Your boss has asked you to prepare a document that will help new clients understand the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders in the construction industry within a traditional procurement model.

Task 1: Roles and responsibilities within the construction industry

Prepare a report for new clients that clearly communicates and demonstrates the roles and responsibilities of the listed stakeholders (see below) within a traditional procurement model.

Your report should be in a Word document and set out in a standard report format, but it should include visual aids, such as flow charts, where appropriate to illustrate the connections between the roles and responsibilities.

You are encouraged to research outside the teaching material to provide an in-depth report for new clients. But make sure your document is clear and concise so it’s useful for new clients.

You must describe the roles and responsibilities of each of the following stakeholders:

  1. Client
  2. Designer
  3. Main Contractor
  4. Sub-Contractors
  5. Consultants
  6. Suppliers
  7. Regulatory Bodies.
