CO4225/CO7225 Task 1

As part of the Discover and Define stages of the Double Diamond framework, you will create personas for your case study. In your case study, you will consider staff and visitors at the smart library. In this task, you must:

• Write 1-3 sentences on who visits the smart library and who works at the smart library and how they interact with each other through the service.
• Write 1-3 sentences on the service in the smart library that the personas will interact with. • Complete two persona templates: 1 for a staff member and 1 for a visitor.

For higher grades, you should consider how the traits of the personas you create relate to the smart library service you describe in this task.

CO4225/CO7225 Task 2

As part of the Discover phase of the Double Diamond framework, you will complete a user journey map for the 2 personas you created as they interact with the service in their smart library described in Task 1. It should show their interactions with the service over time (aware/join/use/leave) and the service's touchpoints. The user journey map should highlight the service's key elements and identify both good parts of the service and those parts which need improvement.

As part of the Define phase of the Double Diamond framework, you will complete a lotus blossom diagram. The template you have to use can be found here:

In the middle of the diagram (in the black square), you should write your design challenge derived from the service you created in tasks 1 and 2. The red and green squares directly around your design challenge should contain design requirements that need to meet in order for your design challenge to be addressed. You should have 4 design requirements filled in for your submitted template. Each design requirement has a matching 3x3 box for examples (e.g. the examples for the top left design requirement are added to the top left boxes). These examples should be solutions that have addressed this requirement in existing services. You need at least 1 example for each design requirement.

CO4225/CO7225 Task 4

With Tasks 1-3 completed, you should have found the highlights of the service as well as areas of improvement. The design methodologies used were personas, a user journey map, and a lotus blossom diagram. For Task 4, you will write a paragraph (max. 300 words) analysing how additional design methodologies could have been used to provide more insight into how to improve your service. Pick at least one method which is part of the Discover phase and one method which is part of the Define phase.
