Choose an organisation that has been involved in corporate failure at board level. Critically discuss from an ethical and corporate governance perspective the key failings in the organisation that led to such an event occurring.

Your essay must include links to academic literature and ethical and corporate governance theories.

This case study should be 2500 words in length (+/- 10%) Due date: Wednesday 8th January 2025, 5pm.

Approach to case study

Firstly, you must select one case study to discuss, which has the structure of a corporate board.

Students should demonstate the breadth of their reading in their case study with reference to original peer-reviewed academic articles, additional to those journal articles covered in the class. As a rough rule of thumb this should include at least 1 reference for every 100 words.
There will also be a need to include media and company reports.

Marks will be awarded for the clarity of the argument presented. Try to develop your argument in a logical progression, moving from one point to the next in a way which shows how your points are connected.

Theory should be applied consistently and applied to your chosen case. Discussing theory without showing how it is relevant would not demonstrate effective application or understanding.

Try to critically reflect on the sources you include, comparing between different points of view and coming to your own original conclusion based on the information you have provided.

Conclusions should flow logically from the preceding arguments, with some brief reflections and suggestions for future research.

Marks will also be awarded for clear presentation. This considers both spelling and grammar as well as your writing style.
