What You Need to Produce

An Australian labour market research report that is based on your current professional purpose statement. You will research and write a 1700-word research report that also includes your reflections and ideas for potential planning. The assignment consists of 3 interconnected sections: 

1. Graduate Occupations- 30% 

This section is foundational to the whole assignment and involves aspects of the labour market on occupations, requiring you to meet the Assignment Aims 1 and 2 (listed above). 

2. Synthesis: SWOT and Goal- 26%

 In this section, you will use Section 1 content as the basis of further analysis, requiring you to meet the Assignment Aims 2 and 3 (listed above). 

3. Job Search Preparation- 24% 

In this section, you will extend the labour market research from Section 1 to include current industry insights useful for planning job search and applications, requiring you to meet the Assignment Aims 1 and 2 (listed above). 

You will also receive marks for the following: 

• Research Quality 10%
• Referencing and Written Communication 10%

Writing Style

A blend of first-person and academic report styles of writing is appropriate for each assignment section. 

Referencing & Plagiarism

Using output from GenAI tools in whole or in part is not permitted in this assignment. 

To avoid plagiarism, all references must be acknowledged within the text and in a reference list, using either APA, Harvard or IEEE referencing style. 

All references must be 

• current (no older than 1 - 2 years) or based on the most recent Australian census data
• Australian in focus; a strong justification must be made if not. 

Minimal reference requirements: 

• Section 1: at least 8 different references (must include at least 3 current job ads)
• Section 2: at least 3 different references
• Section 3: at least 3 different references 

Note: a single reference may be used in more than one section in the assignment, and the minimum total number of references is 13.

Appendices

Must include: 

• At least 3 current job ads for the target occupation - provide a readable image for each ad
• The job ads in the appendix must have been included as in-text references in Section 1 content. 

One mark will be deducted if this requirement is not met. 

Optional

If you conduct an information interview as part of your research, you must include the following: 

• a transcript of the interview (including questions and summary of responses) as an appendix
• The signed Interviewee Consent Form is submitted with your assignment. 

If you conduct an interview and fail to include this information, one mark will be deducted.
