Consultancy Team : Student Entrepreneurship

The traditional employment destination of graduates is large organisations, particularly for students studying Masters in Management. However this behaviour seems to be changing with rising student numbers indicating that they would like to start or be involved in starting their own enterprises. 

If this is the case then there may be a niche market for organisations which support students in the process of setting up their own company. GoGetters Worldwide are exactly this type of organisation and are dedicated to foster potential entrepreneurs and they need to know more about student attitudes to entrepreneurship.

What the client currently thinks they want to know

GoGetters Worldwide are interesting in finding out whether there are budding entrepreneurs in the post graduate Management student population. Do Management students just want to work for others, or develop ‘through the ranks’? If not, and they are interested in setting up their own business, then what sort of business ideas do they have? Is there evidence of entrepreneurial activity before they study, or has studying at management at post-graduate level changed their minds about entrepreneurship possibilities? How do MSc Management students see entrepreneurialactivity? Are their ideas related to gender, nationality or some other factor – the client wants to know and wants you to find out by comparing the results of your research to what other researchers have found out.

You will receive feedback for each summative assessment that includes the grading matrix and individual comments identifying the strengths of your work and also aspects of the work that can be improved upon.  

Word Count in Coursework

Your coursework assignment brief identifies the maximum word count allowed for the main body of text. It also details any elements in the report, typically, tables, diagrams, and references, that are excluded from this word count. 
 
The purpose of the word count is to: 

1. Support your writing development by encouraging a focus on clarity and conciseness
2. Provide experience of writing to a specified word limit and which is common practice in professional and research environments
3. Support equity in grading work from different individuals

You are required to include the word count as an accurate statement of the words used on the NBS Coursework Front Cover for all your coursework. If you are found to have exceeded the word count in order to gain an unfair advantage, then your tutor can adjust your grade downwards depending on the amount of additional work submitted. The guidelines are as follows:  

• If the additional work is up to 500 words long, the overall grade for the piece of work will be reduced by 1 grade point
• If the additional work exceeds 500 words longer, the overall grade for the piece of work will be reduced by 3 grade points
• These penalties will be applied even if the reduced grade is below a pass grade

You are advised to submit work that is as close to the maximum word count as is practical to enable you to demonstrate that you have met all the learning outcomes.
