Question 1

1. You have identified the CTQ for this improvement project in the Define phase. Define the  operational  definition  of  the  CTQ.  Recommend  a  suitable  plot  in  JMP  and generate the “As-Is” baseline performance chart of the CTQ based on the data in the “Hiring  Records”  tab  of  the  “BUS366  GBA  Hiring  DataFile_July2020.xlsx”. Interpret what you observe from the baseline performance chart.  (20 marks)
2. Generate  the  histogram  and  descriptive  statistics  of  the  CTQ.  Estimate  the  process capability.  (25 marks)
3. Apply  an  appropriate  JMP  plot  and  additional  information  from  the  sample  data, present appropriate plots of the data and interpret further insight from the plots about the baseline performance.

Question 2  

1. Relate your own understanding of a typical recruitment process to develop a fishbone diagram  showing  the  possible  causes  of  long  time  to  fill  a  staff  position  as  an example.  Indicate  what  could  be  the  most  likely  causes  of  long  time  to  hire  a  new staff in your example.  (10 marks)
2. Assume  your Lean  Six  Sigma  team  has  developed  a  data  collection  plan  on  the  Xs based on a  fishbone diagram. After data collection and some initial investigation on the positions that were filled late, the reasons for late hiring were collated in the tab “Late  Reasons” in  the  “BUS366  GBA  Hiring  DataFile_July2020.xlsx”. Recommend  and  apply  appropriate  JMP  charts  to  explore  the  causes  of  late  hiring. Identify the top three (3) critical Xs (or root causes) and explain the reasons for the selection. (20 marks)
3. Recommend  two  (2)  suggestions  for  each  of  the  three  (3)  critical  Xs,  and  appraise their suitability to improve the hiring process and to achieve the improvement goal set by the HR Director.
