Introduce the essay topic.
Include definitions of the main concepts:

  1. Tourism
  2. Society
  3. Sociology, as part of the study of tourism

First core section (500 words) 

Discuss the socio-cultural impacts of tourism.
To discuss these impacts, you should

  1. Identify the positive and negative socio-cultural impacts of tourism.
  2. Include examples and statistical data to support your discussion.
  3. Discuss the importance of the socio-cultural aspects of tourism. 

In addition, mention the impact of the socio-cultural aspects of tourism on businesses and tourists’ behaviour.

Second core section (500 words) 

Discuss the socio-economic impacts of tourism.

  1. Identify the positive and negative socio-economic impacts of tourism.

Discuss sustainable tourism, in particular in light of the socio-economical and socio-cultural impacts of tourism.
To discuss this, you should

  2. Describe the elements of sustainable tourism
  3. Discuss how sustainable tourism can help to address some of the issues identified in the First and Second core sections.
  4. Comment on the sustainability and impacts of tourism development on the overall wellbeing of society.

Examine the interrelationship between tourism and poverty.
For this examination, you should

  1. Identify the nature of the interrelationship between tourism and poverty (e.g., what are possible negative and positive impacts of tourism on poverty? What role can tourism play in the alleviation of poverty?)
  2. Offer statistical data to showcase the relevance of the interrelationship between tourism and poverty.
  3. Comment on the pertinence to the tourism industry of further studies and continual monitoring of the interrelationship between tourism and poverty.
