BST505 ASSIGNMENT II (GROUP): 30%

The objective of this assignment is to demonstrate effective communication skills in preparing the report of building inspection. This assignment is intended to effectively communicate findings from a building inspection through clear and well-structured report. The focus is on conveying technical information, analysis and recommendation.

Task Description

1.  Your  consultant  company  has  been  appointed  to  conduct  a  thorough  building  inspection  for  one  (1)  of  the following buildings (the age of building must be 5 years and above): 

1. Public Building 
2. High Rise Residential Building

2.  Your consultant company is required to prepare comprehensive condition survey report. The report made must be according to guideline Code of Practice for Building Inspection Report (CP BS101) 3rd edition. 

3.  The report must have all the necessary information as being highlighted in CPBS 101 3rd edition. 

These includes:

1. Part A: Executive Summary 
2. Part B: Main Report 
3. Part C: Appendices.

For the part C please prepare a set of building drawing (floor plan, roof plan, 4 elevation drawings and 2 section drawings).

4.  Prepare a cost for the repair work for all defects found in the building.

Task Requirements

1. The report must be written in English, on A4-sized paper 
2. Presentation and submission of report is on Week 12.
3. Presentation in the form of Board Presentation. (Size: A0, 841mm x 1189mm)
4. Each group should comprise 5 to 6 students. This is a group assignment. However, evaluation for each of student is conducted separately for participation marks which is equivalent to 15% of total marks for this assignment.
5. The report must be submitted before or on Friday @ 9/1/2026 @ 11.59pm.  6.  Please read this assignment brief carefully, make sure all the important points are included in your report.

BST505 Rubrics Marks

1.The marking rubrics for this assignment is divided into 3 parts which are presentation, report and participation.
