Task Details

The individual assignment, weighted at 100%, covers the module syllabus in its entirety. The assessment will cover the four learning outcomes of the module with a word limit of 3000 words. Specifically, it will aim to assess your understanding of blockchain technologies, and the structure of cryptocurrencies and to critically analyse the impact these technologies have on different financial sectors. You will be expected to expand on blockchain applications: Financial markets (settlements of securities transactions and post-trade services); payments (uses in emerging markets, business opportunities from PSD2), trade finance, anti-money laundering, and P2P  lending. Finally, you will also be expected to demonstrate the security/regulation concerns around cryptocurrencies/blockchain technologies.

1. To identify and comprehend the architecture and components of blockchain technology. 

2. Demonstrate the design rationale behind blockchain technology. 3. Critically evaluate the impact of blockchain technology and Fintech on businesses, financial markets, banking, and financial services. 4. Actively associate with the debate around the use of blockchain within the regulatory framework.
