Assessment Information-What You Need to do

This assignment is an individual assignment.

Context:

Global challenges such as the climate change crisis and adverse impacts of business operations on communities have resulted in a paradigm shift in the business environment (Nicoara and Kadile, 2023). With this, global interest in the CSR agenda has risen steadily in recent years, seeing the adoption of the Paris Agreement at COP 21 in 2015 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

An industry that has seen increased focus to become more sustainable is the transport and logistics industry, owing to its contribution to rising global greenhouse gas emissions. This shift is shaping the global transportation sector, with regulations and policies being implemented to decarbonise the industry.

This assignment requires you to undertake the following:

1. Produce a 10-minute video presentation to convince the Executive Board of ANY car manufacturing company of your choice to commit to CSR, or to do more in this area. In your presentation,

  • Discuss key reasons why the company should commit to CSR
  • Make specific, well-researched recommendations on what CSR strategies the company could implement

2. Write a 500-word reflection on your experience undertaking this task, using Kolb’s Cycle of Reflective
Practice

You will need to:

  • Pick any car manufacturing company of your choice. Here are some examples but feel free to choose other car manufacturers you are familiar with, e.g. TESLA, Volkswagen, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Xiaomi, General Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra etc.
  • Explain in detail why the executive board of the chosen car manufacturing company should commit to CSR. Your arguments must be thoroughly supported with relevant concepts covered on the module and research evidence.
  • Make specific and well-researched recommendations on how the chosen company could commit to CSR.
  • Include a 500-word reflection on your experience in undertaking this task

  • If an assessment is submitted beyond 24 hours late, the work will receive a mark of zero per cent
  • The above applies to a student’s first attempt at the assessment. If work submitted as a reassessment of a previously failed assessment task is submitted later than the deadline, the work will immediately be given a mark of zero per cent
  • If an assessment, which is marked as pass/fail rather than given a percentage mark, is submitted later than the deadline, the work will immediately be marked as a fail
  • The University wants you to do your best. However, we know that sometimes events happen which mean that you can’t submit your coursework by the deadline – these events should be beyond your control and not easy to predict. If this happens, you can apply for an extension to your deadline for up to five working days, or if you need longer, you can apply for a deferral, which takes you to the next assessment period (for example, to the re-sit period following the main Assessment Boards). You must apply before the deadline for your assessment. You will find information about applying for extensions and deferrals here.
  • Students MUST keep a copy and/or an electronic file of their assignment.
  • Checks will be made on your work using anti-plagiarism software and approved plagiarism checking websites.
