This assessment is worth 100% of the overall module mark. A pass score for this individual assessment is 40%.

This document consists of a detailed assignment brief, guidance on what you need to prepare, and information on how class sessions support your ability to complete successfully. You’ll also find information on this page to guide you on how, where, and when to submit. If you need additional support, please make a note of the services detailed in this document. 

How, when, and where to submit:

The deadline for this assessment is Monday 01/12/2025 at 13:00/1PM. You should aim to submit your assessment in advance of the deadline.

The link for submitting your work via the Turnitin on Blackboard will be visible to you from Week 9 (week commencing 24/11/2025). 

Feedback and grades will be released on Monday 22/12/2025 at 13:00/1:00PM.

Preparing for your assignment

What will this assignment assess?

Your student experience blog/vlog will assess all three of the module’s learning outcomes.

Learning Outcomes assessed:

  1. Develop academic, personal, research and transferable competencies related to your course
  2. Demonstrate your competency in presenting information for assessment
  3. Critically reflect on personal development of core academic competencies

What do I need to do?

Based on your experience as a School of Business student, produce a blog (600-800 words) or vlog (4-8 minutes) for prospective students which shares your story about your transition to University. This should focus on your personal development of academic skills as well as general advice to enable future students to make a confident start to their studies at the University of Lancashire.

What should the student experience blog/vlog contain? 

Your blog/vlog should contain four sections.

  • Week1 – Skills audit and learning goals
  • Week 6 – Assessment information and blog/vlog advice
  • Week 7 – Presentation advice for those creating a vlog
  • Week 8 – Critical reflection on progress made during Semester 1

What format should the practical assessment (blog/vlog) be submitted in?

The blog needs to be submitted in a Word document following blog writing conventions. 

The vlog needs to be submitted in as MP4, MP3 or wav file via the Medial Integration Tool which is use for uploading media files. It should follow vlog presentation conventions.
