This ICA2 individual assignment constitutes 30% of the overall module grade. The ICA is a case study to assess learners’ understanding and application of relevant processes to a crisis scenario in a real-life setting. Learners are expected to research on their own to supplement the information provided in this brief with appropriate references (using American Psychological Association (APA) format).

Learners are required to use appropriate analytical frameworks (Critical Thinking Framework and Root Cause Analysis) taught in the module to analyse the BCRM plans and emergency responses of the relevant parties involved in the Genting Highlands disaster in 2022 (see Appendix A). The lectures on emergency response and coordination with external agencies will be especially relevant.
Learners are to discuss the fundamental reasons for the success/failure of the plans and responses. They must offer recommendations to improve the plans and responses to prevent and manage a similar incident in the future.
KUALA LUMPUR: At least 21 people, including five children, were killed in Malaysia after a landslide hit a campsite in Batang Kali near Genting Highlands on Friday (Dec 16) morning.
Search and rescue teams are scouring thick mud and downed trees for 12 people still missing at the campsite at Father’s Organic Farm in Gohtong Jaya, which is in the state of Selangor.
All bodies are being taken to Hospital Sungai Buloh, fire and rescue department director Norazam Khamis told a news conference at about 5.30 pm on Friday.
Malaysia’s local government development ministry said 61 people have been found safe, out of a total of 94 people caught in the landslide.
Three Singaporeans were among those rescued, said a spokesperson for Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Friday evening. It added that the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur is in touch with all three of them.
