Research Project Guideline

“Precarious work is a both global and nation-specific phenomenon that affects workers, employers, and society at large.”
Please discuss the above statement by addressing one or more of the following management challenges covered by the module.

• Intersection inequality (especially gender, age, ethnicity, and race)
• Power and sexual harassment
• CSR (corporate social responsibility)
• Collective Representations 
• mental health

Please check carefully the following three essential requirements; failing to fulfill them will result in failing marks.

Essential Requirement 1

Your research project must involve cross-national comparative analysis — typically two choices:

1. Either compare two countries in equal measure 
2. Or focus mainly on one country and draw comparative insights from one or more countries.

Essential Requirement 2

Your research project must analyse substantially and cite (with accurate page numbers) a minimum of 5 readings from the module weekly reading list on Moodle. In addition, you are encouraged to conduct independent literature research.

Essential Requirement 3

Your research project must use secondary, empirical, or real-world organisational case studies (such as McDonald’s and Uber).
You can use case studies covered by the module or choose them from secondary sources through independent research. 

Writing Structure

• Start with a clearly defined focus, specify a research question or problem, summarize main arguments, and provide a brief justification (Introduction)
• Formulate a relevant theoretical framework that is useful for addressing your research question/problem (Literature Review)
• Analyse secondary empirical or real-world case studies, with a view to showing a close link with the theoretical framework (Empirical Data Analysis)
• Identify broad theoretical and practical implications (recommendations or lessons) derived from your specific research project (Conclusion)

Methodological explanations are not required.

Analysis

• Combine and synthesise multiple levels — global, national/regional, sectorial/organisational — of contextual analysis
• When analysing national contexts, consider both culture and institutions
• Organise contents and themes in a coherent and cogent manner (with headings and subheadings)
• Develop evidence-based arguments and demonstrate a thorough and critical understanding
