Assignment Grading Information

Assessment Requirements:    

  • To achieve a ‘pass’ for this unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria.
  • You will be directly assessed by a qualified assessor if necessary.

Unit Aim    

Within this unit, learners will look at the role of person-centred care in their interactions with service users. They also consider other models of care delivery and discuss their strengths and weaknesses in delivering care to different populations of service users. Learners will develop an understanding of the difficulties of balancing individual autonomy and minimising potential risk to vulnerable service users. Learners will look at relevant health and social care legislation that impacts both those delivering care and individuals receiving care.

Introduction:

  • Explain the concept of empathy with links to current theories (up to 150 words)

Task 2:

  • Define ethics with particular reference to medical ethical principles (up to 250 words)
  • Identify the ethical issues from the case study and discuss how these could be resolved. (up to 300 words)

Task 3:

  • Discuss two pieces of legislation concerning Health and Social Care and how they impact upon the delivery of care (up to 450 words)
  • Analyse the roles of 2 agencies that guide safe and effective care delivery in the health and social care sector. (up to 400 words)

Guidelines for Completion and Submission

Plagiarism and Collusion

Referencing

A professional approach to work is expected from all learners. Learners must therefore identify and acknowledge ALL sources/methodologies/applications used.

The learner must use the Harvard Referencing system to achieve this. Marks are not awarded for the use of English; however, the learner must express ideas clearly and ensure that appropriate terminology is used to convey accuracy in meaning.

Appendices

  • You may include appendices to support your work; however, appendices must only contain additional supporting information and must be referenced in your assignment.
  • You may also include tables, graphs, diagrams, Gantt charts and flowcharts that support the main report should be incorporated into the end ofthe assignment report that is submitted.
  • Any published secondary information, such as annual reports and company literature, should be referenced in the main text of the assignment, in accordance with Harvard Style Referencing, and referenced at the end of the assignment.

Word Count Policy

Learners must comply with the required word count, within a margin of ±10%. These rules exclude the index, headings, tables, images, footnotes, appendices and information contained within references and bibliographies. When an assessment task requires learners to produce presentation slides with supporting notes, the word count applies to the supporting notes only.

Submission of Assignments

All work is to be submitted on the due date. All work must be submitted in a single electronic document (.docx file).
