Assignment Context:

The ability to plan, implement, and evaluate special events effectively is a key responsibility for any successful event organiser. By applying established planning models, you will gain practical insights into the critical role that event principles and planning play in delivering meaningful experiences.

Assignment Task:

For this assignment, you are required to devise an original event proposal to take place in Birmingham. You will then evaluate the significance of key planning process activities and apply them to your event.

You should base your event choice on one of the following scenarios:

A high-profile Charity Event and Auction at a venue of your choice

A One-Day Food and Drink Festival at a venue of your choice

A Celebration of 80s Music at a venue of your choice

Please indicate on the toolkit which event scenario you have chosen as well as your chosen venue.

In order to complete the assignment, you should address the following tasks within the Events Planning Toolkit:

Task 1: Discuss the significance of the planning process in relation to the potential perceived success or failure of the event (350 words)

Task 2: Identify, describe and evaluate the key planning issues (including vision and mission statements, event objectives and stakeholder interests) associated with the event (350 words)

Task 3: Suggest which type of organisational structure is best suited to the event, explaining the appropriateness of the approach. (300 words)

Task 4: Explain the different project management techniques which may be used to plan the event. Evaluate the benefits of using such techniques. (350 words)

Task 5: Identify key legislation and guidelines that the event organisers should consider to ensure successful implementation of the event at the chosen venue, and make appropriate links to the event risk assessment. (350 words)

Task 6: Complete the risk assessment template provided in Appendix 1, outlining three main hazards associated with the event at your selected venue. (300 words)
