TO5107 Assessment 2: Description

ASSESSMENT ITEM 2: DESCRIPTION - PROJECT PLAN – VISITOR EXPERIENCE DESIGN ENHANCEMENT STRATEGY

This project plan requires students to use the knowledge gained in the first assessment which analyzed information on visitor perspectives to create a visitor experience design enhancement strategy for their chosen experience. It could be either a completely new visitor experience for the chosen setting or a series of recommendations for improving the existing experience.
Students should use their experience journey map from assessment 1 to structure and organize their experience design strategy. While no set structure is required as students are encouraged to be creative in how they present their strategies - each strategy must include the following sections:

-A list of the main stages/episodes in the experience with descriptions of the recommended inclusions or changes that are being proposed with specific attention being paid to matching the desired changes in the visitor experience to the required changes in the experiencescape elements – i.e., changes to the physical setting, timing/scheduling, activities offered, staffing requirements, technology used, etc. These changes should also be linked to the visitor experience themes identified and discussed in Assessment
-Where appropriate the main stage/episodes could be replaced by a storyboard approach
-A description of any changes required to key touchpoints guided by the features included in the touchpoint template in the prescribed textbook.

The strategies should be easy to read and follow, engaging for the reader with recommendations provided in sufficient detail that the relevant managers can easily implement the suggested changes. In addition, it must be very clear where a recommendation is based on evidence gathered in assessment 1.

Students can also use Gen AIs to suggest improvements/changes and/or new experiences based on descriptions of other similar experiences and visitor reviews of those experiences. More details on how to do this will be provided in the relevant online tutorials.

Students are encouraged to use figures or journey map templates to help organize this assessment. No word limit has been set as it is possible to complete this in a variety of formats with less text. The preferred style of presentation is that used in the two design thinking booklets that are listed in the additional resources in the information provided on topic 5 in the subject schedule in section 3.

Overall, it is expected that plan will be between 6-12 pages in length.

Students are allowed to direct the reader to examples in other experiences that illustrate the design experience design change or feature.

If references are used in the plan they must cited properly and listed in APA format in a reference list at the end.
