Assessment 1: Description
This assessment aims to evaluate the ability to work as a group to develop a proposal for a new or existing tourism/hospitality business. The business proposal is the first part of the Business Operations assignment.
Working in Teams: The ability to “lead, manage and contribute effectively to teams” is a key JCU Graduate skill and an important skill sought by employers. Working in teams, under proper conditions, encourages peer learning and peer support. Sometimes members of a team will not contribute equally to the task, resulting in some students carrying the full load or the team's effort. Should you have a conflict in your team, it is important to advise the lecturer as soon as possible. The lecturer will retain the right (after hearing claims from students) to decide when a group should be disbanded. In exceptional circumstances, individual assessment options are available to students only after a concerted effort has been made to work with other team members.

Assessment 2: Description
This assessment aims to evaluate application of learnt Tourism and hospitality operations concepts, process on a chosen organisation. You are required to develop a written operations manual that describes how you will manage the day to day aspects of your proposed business.
Instructions:
The manual will include parts of the business proposal. It should include two of the following dimensions of operations:
a) procedures for managing service quality
b) human resources
c) suppliers, alliances and partnerships
d) strategies for managing demand
e) revenue maximisation and cost control
f) legal compliance
g) marketing, PR and crisis management
A section outlining the sustainability measures of the business operations is also compulsory. These topics must closely follow topics that are explored in the modules for this subject. The manual should be approximately 4,000 words in length (excluding tables, figures and references).

Assessment 3: Description
The aim of this assessment is to assess your understanding of material from the lecture and tutorials. It is important that you are able to apply concepts from the subject based on learning materials in real life like scenarios and situation. You will be required to complete an analysis on a given case study and answer any relevant queries. The case study would be provided by the lecturer at a later stage of the trimester.
