Purpose and Rationale |
The purpose of the project is to allow you to demonstrate your understand of key economic concepts and apply them in a real-world setting, using appropriate data to support your arguments. This represents both a test of the module learning outcomes, and all develops your analytical skills for any future role you might undertake. |

Requirements for the Assessment |
You have been employed by a large organisation from your home country to prepare a consultancy reporting considering the organisation’s potential entry into the Scottish Whisky Industry (Please see case study) . Using the materials discussed during the module, prepare a report covering the follow issues: 1. Critically analyse the managerial constraints and trade-offs that you organisation would face when entering the industry focusing on: a. Mode of entry b. Output and supply constraints. 2. Critically analyse how the current economic climate in the UK would influence the organisation’s decisions. 3. Consider the option of exporting the product to the organisations home country and discuss how the macroeconomic environment in that country would impact on such activities. 4. Given you discussion above, briefly recommend a business plan that would allow the organisation to make a success of this new venture. 5. The analysis should be supported by reference to appropriate academic theory and underpinned with data. Submission Date !9th of December 2025 All coursework, both at first attempt and reassessment, submitted after the agreed deadline will be marked at a maximum of 50 per cent. Coursework submitted over five working days after the agreed deadline will be given a mark of zero per cent, although formative feedback will be offered to the student where requested, as per Academic Regulations Sections B and C.’ |
