Task:

Critically analyse the common challenges encountered by trauma survivors when considering forgiveness in your field. Evaluate your role as a facilitator in ensuring their safety and supporting their healing.

Description

Step one: Analyse Common Challenges in the Forgiveness Process

  • Provide background on your practice and describe prevalent forms of trauma in your workplace or community.
  • Define and critically discuss forgiveness, including Biblical perspectives: Explore the tension and dilemma surrounding love and forgiveness, particularly for survivors dealing with unfixable suffering, brokenness and injustice. Examine the challenges trauma survivors encounter in their forgiveness process, including premature pressure from others to forgive.
  • Apply the ‘Te Whare Tapa Whā’ model to identify the survivor’s challenges across emotional, mental, physical and spiritual dimensions.

Step two: Evaluating Your Role as a Facilitator

  • Discuss the process of forgiveness and the forgiveness journey using Phil Halstead’s research.
  • Discuss your roles as a facilitator: Based on Halstead’s work, analyse safe practice principles to ensure survivors’ emotional, mental, physical and spiritual safety throughout their healing and forgiveness journey.

Limited engagement with biblical themes, needing more depth and critical insight.
3) Safe Practice Principles for Forgiveness Process and Journey Critically applies safe practice principles with comprehensive understanding of both forgiveness processes and the journey of forgiveness. Shows a clear and accurate understanding of safe practice principles related to forgiveness process and journey. Demonstrates an adequate awareness of safe practice principles, forgiveness processes and its journey but may be superficial or uneven. Limited understanding of safe practice principles, with little to no discussion on both/either forgiveness processes and/or the journey of forgiveness.
4) Engagement with Evidence-Based Research Critically evaluates high-quality, relevant academic literature, integrating strong supporting evidence throughout. Engages appropriately with relevant research and makes connections across literature and into practice. References relevant studies, some may be non-academic sources. Analytical depth may be superficial or uneven. Minimal or inaccurate use of evidence-based research.
