Based on the different areas of your life (in school, work, volunteering experiences, personal life, etc.), review your own personal life performance (outside SUSS) and performance in SUSS. Apply Cotterill’s (2017) performance model to identify the following factors that influence your life and school performance:
1) Environmental factors
2) State factors
3) Personalised performance strategies
4) Cognition
5) Confidence
Apply your understanding of peak performance and analyse how the five factors influence your performance. Design two practical and personalised strategies that can help you to improve your performance.
Please present your assignment in an academic poster style format (A4 size) and submit it to the Canvas link. All text should be presented in no smaller than font size 10, except for the reference list, and in Times New Roman or Arial. The assignment should be submitted as a Word document and strictly limited to one A4 page (including the reference list).
Your academic poster should cover the following areas:
1) Overview (10 marks): Set the stage and explain the different roles/areas in your life, the expected behaviours, and the level of performance you need to attain.
2) Performance Factors (50 marks): Analyse how the five factors influence your performance, clearly stating examples from your own scenarios and using empirical evidence to support your points.
3) Recommendations (30 marks): Suggest two strategies that can be used to improve performance, with empirical evidence to support your claims.
4) Design (5 marks): Your poster should be set at a professional academic level, with effective allocation of sections, fonts, and/or colours. Graphics and images used are to be appropriate and emphasise points, rather than distract from the content. Please use royalty-free content or cite sources for your visuals.
For this assignment, you should use APA referencing in your write-up (i.e., in-text citations) and in your reference list. Note that you may write in point-form for this assignment.
The References lists the full reference of all sources cited or referred to in your assignment. In-text citations also need to be presented accurately in APA format.
Note: Valid academic sources include peer-reviewed academic journal articles, academic books and book chapters. The iSmartGuide, student theses, and online websites, blog posts, or videos are NOT considered valid academic sources.
There will be no awarding of 1, 2, or 3 marks.
5 marks: Perfect use of APA style. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of APA format and referencing conventions. A minimum of 5 valid academic references are cited.
4 marks: Near perfect use of APA style. Demonstrates a very good understanding of APA format and referencing conventions. A minimum of 5 valid academic references are cited.
0 marks: Fails to meet the above requirements.
No marks are allocated to English competency, but a penalty of up to 5 marks will apply for errors.
1–2 mark penalty: Minor errors present, such as typos and spelling or punctuation mistakes.
3–5 mark penalty: Major errors or a fair number of minor errors present, such as spelling or punctuation mistakes, or use of colloquial and/or non-academic writing style.

Keep strictly to any word limits (or limits to the number of slides, pages, or durations of videos) as no allowance will be given. Any content beyond the specified limits will not be marked. Tables, figures, and in-text citations are included in the word count whilst the reference list and appendices are not.
Negative marking up to a penalty of 5 marks will apply for English competency. It is important that you use an appropriate academic writing style, and write clearly using correct grammar, punctuation and spelling. British spelling is recommended.
Follow the APA7 format as described in the “PSY Referencing Guide”. Appropriate in-text citations and an accurately formatted Reference section are expected. More information about formatting in APA7 can be found in the APA website: http://www.apastyle.org/index.aspx.
The University takes a very serious view of plagiarism, including misuse of Generative AI (GenAI), and collusion, i.e. submitting an assignment which is very similar to another student’s. The definitions and penalties are outlined in your Student Handbook.
All assignments are to be completed on your own. You may discuss the TMA/GBA with your course mates, but the assignment must be written up independently. Similarly, for assignments where GenAI use is permitted, you may consult GenAI but write the final submitted assignment yourself. You are also responsible for properly disclosing any use of GenAI in your assignments through citations and tables as detailed HERE. See below for further guidelines on GenAI use.
Permissible Use Of GenAI
Unacceptable Use Of GenAI (AI Cheating)
WARNING: Submitting assignments that substantially regurgitate or reproduce information from any sources, including GenAI tools, constitutes plagiarism. Once a plagiarism offence is established, the student’s work will be heavily marked down. A Fail grade will be awarded for cases found to contain fabricated content, including bogus references, false information, or non-existent arguments attributed to cited reference sources.
Proof of originality of your submitted assignment: You are strongly encouraged to (1) keep a record of your assignment version history and (2) retain PDF copies of all the cited sources in your assignment in a zipped folder. This evidence will be required in the circumstance that your assignment is flagged for plagiarism, in particular misuse of GenAI.
