You may use AI tools in your assessment work but only as permitted by the assessment instructions. Any use of AI tools must be acknowledged and appropriately referenced. Each assessment will have two drop boxes, labeled ‘final draft’ and ‘final submission’. You must submit your assessment in both drop boxes and the content of your submissions should be the same. Your final draft must be your writing, completed without the use of grammar correction or any other writing assistance tool. Your final submission can include the use of grammar correction. Using AI tools in any way that is not explicitly permitted, or using AI tools without acknowledgement, is a breach of academic integrity. Scenario: Your manager will soon need to decide whether to adopt a new information or communication technology. Your manager has asked you to gather information resources that could be used to evaluate the technology under consideration, with a preference for information about use of the technology in similar organisations for similar reasons.

Task 1

• Describe the organization
• Describe a problem or opportunity faced by the organisation
• Specify the technology solution that is being considered
• Give a rationale for adopting this solution

• Select a real organisation and a real technology
• The organisation should operate in New Zealand or Australia
• The technology should be available for purchase, not something that requires R&D
• The technology should be specific; identify the vendor, model, version, etc.
• The technology should be one that your organization will use, not one that it will sell
• The rationale should explain how the technology could address the problem or opportunity
• You can make up the details of the problem or opportunity, or you can use a real situation that you are familiar with

Task 2

• Find and select eight information resources that could be used to evaluate your selected technology
• The selected information resources should include at least one resource from each of the following categories: (1) peer reviewed research report, (2) case study, (3) professional literature, (4) technical documentation, (5) government or commercial websites, (6) social media posts, (7) video or audio resources, (8) output from a chat based generative AI tool
• For each resource provide an APA style reference, a description of the information it provides, an evaluation of its credibility, and an analysis of its utility

• Try to cover a range of points of view, including sources that are critica
• Select resources that are relevant your organisation and problem or opportunity
• Unlike a report or essay you will not use in-text citations or provide a reference list at the end of your bibliography, instead you will start each bibliography entry with a complete APA style reference
• When you describe each resource, specify the type of resource and then describe the information provided; for example, with a peer reviewed article you might briefly describe the research question, methodology, and conclusions
• When you evaluate each resource, consider the TRAAP criteria. You do not need to discuss all five criteria for every resource, but you should apply each criterion to at least one resource
• When you analyse the utility of each resource, explain how the information provided could be used to support a decision about adoption of the technology

Task 3

• Describe the databases or search tools that you used
• Describe key words used, AI prompts, and any other filters, delimiters, etc.
• Explain your choices about where and how to search

• Be concise but don’t skip any of the required information
• You should show that you understand how to use the tools and methods discussed in class
• You should show that you understand when and why to use these tools and methods
