OPP4006  Assignment Task

** Upload the cover sheet by 9 am, Wednesday, 7th May. This should include your name, student ID and any other relevant group information (e.g. the title of the choreography).

[Oral presentation]

  • In small groups (agreed by the module leader), you will need to create a 3-minute oral presentation. This should be presented at the beginning of PR1.  
  • All group members should contribute to the 3-minute oral presentation. This should simply be spoken and not include slides.
  • Within the presentation, you will need to:
  • Demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the chosen social dance styles and the cultural background of these styles.  
  • Rationalise the chosen music, movements and theme of the group's social dance choreography. 

[Social dance choreography] 

  • The group will need to design and perform a 2-3 minute social dance choreography.
  • The choreography design, group performance and various aspects of teamwork (including etiquette, manner and synchronisation, etc.) will be assessed.
  • Attention should be given to musicality, correct footwork, hip actions and arm movements.

[Q&A]

At the end of PR1, there may be a short Q&A to discuss the group work in more detail and to follow up on anything discussed in the verbal presentation.

LO2: Apply practical social dance skills with appropriate etiquette, manner, and teamwork

Practicalities: Referencing, presenting and submitting your work

  • Submit your cover sheet via Turnitin, including your name, student ID and any other relevant group information.
  • The use of cue cards is allowed for the 3-minute oral presentation if needed.
  • Health and safety must be considered through the appropriate choice of footwear (e.g. Latin dance shoes, jazz dance shoes, ballet dance shoes or soft sole trainers) and clothes.
