NURS2024 Assessment 3 

In this verbal assignment, you are required to videotape a handover using the ISBAR mnemonic for your selected case study. Each student is to submit an 8-minute video of themselves providing a comprehensive handover, based upon the selected case study. In addition to this, you are also required to develop five questions to clarify and explore the information provided within a second case study.

The case study is intended as the context for and foundation of your handover and does not contain all of the information that is relevant to a comprehensive handover for the patient.
In week 1 of the topic, you should:

1. Select two case studies from those provided.
2. The first case study will provide the context for your verbal handover video.
3. The second case study will provide the context as a point of enquiry, to support the development of five targeted questions that are intended to expand your understanding of the clinical scenario.

The presentation should include:

No more than two (2) PowerPoint slides to accompany your presentation.
A video-recorded handover.
Dress as you would for a clinical placement
The verbal handover should reflect what you have learnt within the topic to date:

• Relevant Quality Standards
• Person Centred Care
• Interprofessional Lead Care
• Evidence-Based Practice
• Clinical Leadership

The video duration should be 8 minutes.
 
Presentation Structure

• Use the ISBAR mnemonic to structure your handover. See SA Health reference links below.
• Ensure you communicate clearly and are person-centred in your handover.
• Identify critical information from the case and include additional information that you have sourced that is relevant to the appropriate continuation of care within the handover.
• Reflect the current evidence for best practice within the context of the patient's care requirements.
• The slides should be very brief and only include key points from your handover, with your verbal handover covering the broader body of information communicated. The final slide should contain a bibliography of the reference material considered in completing the handover.

Five questions relating to the second Case Study

The five written questions developed as a point of enquiry relating to the second case study should be clear and succinct and target information that is relevant to person-centred, evidence-based, multidisciplinary care provision. The questions must be open and not closed, as the intent is to gain further information and not elicit a simple yes or no answer.

The written questions need to be created in a Word document, which should contain a bibliography of any reference material considered as part of creating the questions.
