Section B: Introduction

This is an individual assignment of 2,000 words in which you will demonstrate your understanding and application of entrepreneurial (and leadership) theory and practice.

Using examples of theory and practice studied in the Module, you will first identify an entrepreneur and then analyse, critique, and report on the entrepreneurial success and leadership skills this entrepreneur has (or does not have), and about the material we will study in the Module.

Students are highly encouraged to conduct a real interview. However, learners have the liberty to rely on secondary sources as well, i.e., Interviews available on the internet. It is compulsory to justify the interview with evidence, and it must be taken from authentic and reliable sources only.

Section C: Assessment Strategy

Learners are required to research the selected entrepreneur for the assessment. It is highly recommended to jot down all relevant facts and information about selected entrepreneurs and select the applicable entrepreneurial concepts and theories. Do not start developing a report without preliminary research. Once the first round of research is done, you may start developing a report which will be divided into sections, with titles, headings and subheadings as appropriate:

Executive Summary

You are required to summarize the entire report. Please note that an executive summary is not the same as an introduction, and there must be a reflection of your research. There will be no word count fan or executive summary; however, please do not exceed more than 200 words. Although it appears to be at first, you are always required to start writing an executive summary once you complete your report.

Introduction (approx. 200 words)

where you explain how and why you chose your entrepreneur, detail their business and industry, and detail their entrepreneurial, educational, and

business experience (success and failures).

– Methodology: Explain your methodology, i.e., qualitative research and interview analysis if you conduct a real interview. Alternatively, if you are relying on internet-available interviews, you need to explain the source of the interview, when it was conducted, who the interviewer was, the background of the interview or any other relevant information.

Main Body (approx. 1,400 words max):

– Academic Analysis, where you analyse theories especially related to social entrepreneurship, plus appropriate chapters and material from our textbook and class slides (i.e., Stokes, 2010), and explain how ideas and examples from the link (or do not link) to your chosen entrepreneur

Academic Analysis 1

Three Pillars of Sustainability (You may come up with other relevant concepts). Explain the selected concept, its rationale and how it is relevant to your entrepreneur. You can use figures, data and information from past research papers to support your selected theory.

The second paragraph should be the integration of interview findings with the above-selected concept. Interview findings must be compared and contrasted with the theory used. Simply stating facts from an interview is not adequate and you will not be graded. You must be able to derive a meaningful conclusion from it.

Academic Analysis 2

The mindset of Social Entrepreneurs (You may come up with other relevant concepts). Explain the selected concept, its rationale and how it is relevant to your social entrepreneur. You can use figures, data and information from past research papers to support your selected theory.

The second paragraph should be the integration of interview findings with the above-selected concept. Interview findings must be compared and contrasted with the theory used. Simply stating facts from an interview is not adequate, and you will not be graded. You must be able to derive a meaningful conclusion from it.

Conclusion (approx. 200 words)

Where you highlight the main findings of the report, with the identification of some limitations, while doing this research. You can also state how these limitations can be overcome.

Recommendations (200 Words)

  • Advice for your entrepreneur, where you explain how your chosen entrepreneur can benefit from a greater understanding of ideas and examples from your academic readings, and how they can develop their professional and successful career in the future. You must develop at least three recommendations, and they must be based on the academic discussions; mere random suggestions will not be relevant.
  • Recommendation 1:
  • Recommendation2:

Explain why your selected entrepreneur must consider these recommendations.

Reference

You are required to acknowledge the contribution of the writers and researchers that you have used in this assignment. It must be done in Harvard Referencing Style. For every in-text citation in your paper, there must be a corresponding entry in your reference list. Mere listing out unused sources will not be graded.

However, no need to reference when you are:

Tables, images, models, charts, and diagrams can also be used within the text and will not count toward the word count.
