Assessment Information

Assessment Information

A successful career depends on developing the right attitudes and behaviours.  This journey of personal development begins with a reflection on where you are now and where you would like to be in the future.  By doing this, you can identify and focus on the competencies you need to develop during your time at university.  As a starting point for this journey, you are required to create a personal development portfolio to assess your current level of employability and prepare for your future career.

Assessment Tasks

Produce a personal development portfolio that includes ALL the following elements:

  1. A personal audit of your personality, traits, and goals using the Graduate+ Potential.ly system. A Reflection Required: Discuss what surprised you during the audit, and how this has shaped your understanding of your personal brand [10 marks].
  2. Analyse current job advertisements for your desired entry-level role and outline the required soft and hard skills.  Reflection Required: Evaluate your alignment with these requirements and what that means for your future development. [15 marks]
  3. Provide evidence of your current competence in at least two soft skills and two hard skills needed for the role in Task 2. Utilise an appropriate reflective framework to evaluate and describe your current capabilities. [20 marks]
  4. Develop a structured personal development plan using the template provided, detailing how you intend to improve both the soft and hard skills identified earlier. Reflection Required: Reflect on which actions you’re most confident about, and which areas may pose the biggest challenge. [15 marks]
  5. Professional Profile – CV & LinkedIn: Present your up-to-date CV, including screenshots showing it has been reviewed using the Graduate+ CV360 system. Then, present your LinkedIn profile (exported), ensuring it aligns with the CV and includes signs of active professional networking.  A LinkedIn profile - exported from LinkedIn - that aligns with the CV presented in Task 5 and provides evidence of professional networking. Reflection Required: Reflect on the differences between presenting yourself on a CV versus LinkedIn, and what this taught you about branding [15 marks]
  6. Forage Programme Completion: Provide a certificate of completion for a Forage virtual experience programme relevant to your chosen degree. A Reflection Required: Reflect on how the virtual experience influenced your perspective or direction regarding your career path.
    [15 marks]
  7. Task 7: Bronze Graduate+ Award Completion: Submit your Bronze Graduate+ Award certificate. A Reflection Required: Reflect on your experience pursuing this award and how it contributed to your employability or personal growth.
    [10 marks]

NOTE: An additional 5 marks are available for the level of professionalism evident in your work, including the correct referencing of facts and frameworks.

Referencing Style

Harvard referencing must be used to identify the source of all facts, concepts and theories used in your document.  Further information on referencing is available via the library's referencing guide.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Whilst AI tools can help assist learning, when it comes to assessment, the Academic Misconduct Procedure is straightforward that this should be a student’s own original work, not the work of others or AI tools.
The Use of AI Tools - Student Guidelines document follows the same guidelines your lecturers use.  If you are unsure of whether AI is appropriate within your work, please read the guidelines or ask your lecturer.  For advice and guidance around academic writing, please visit the Centre for Academic Success.

RESTRICTED

You MUST NOT use any form of Artificial Intelligence in this assessment unless authorised explicitly for reasonable adjustments.  This includes non-generative AI such as spell-checks, grammar checks or calculators.  If you have any doubts about using an AI tool, please consult the Student AI Guidelines or ask your tutor.

Academic Integrity Guidance

Academic Integrity means completing and submitting your own original work while properly acknowledging sources. Following academic conventions, such as referencing and citation, helps avoid plagiarism. The Centre for Academic Success offers resources on Moodle, workshops, and 1-2-1 support to improve skills such as paraphrasing and referencing.

Academic Misconduct

Academic misconduct is conduct that has or may have the effect of providing you with an unfair advantage by relying on dishonest means to gain an advantage and which therefore compromises your academic integrity.
The Academic Misconduct procedure outlines the process we will follow and the penalties that may be applied in cases where we believe you have compromised your academic integrity by committing academic misconduct.

Word Count

There is no maximum word count for this assessment.  However, the portfolio must reflect a level of effort that is equivalent to writing a 2,000-word report. The word count refers to everything in the main body of the text (including headings, tables, citations, quotes, lists, etc.).  Everything before (i.e., abstract, acknowledgements, contents, executive summaries, etc.) and after (i.e., references, bibliographies, appendices, etc) is not included in the word count limit.

Submission Information

Your work must be submitted via Moodle as a single Microsoft Word document and adhere to the following formatting requirements:

  • Font type: Either Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman
  • Font size: Body text must be no smaller than 11pt; text within tables, diagrams, and charts must be no smaller than 9pt.
  • Page margins: 2.54cm on the left, right, top, and bottom
  • Headers: All page headers must contain the student ID and module name in 9pt size font
  • Footers: All page footers must contain the page number in 9pt size font

Late Submission

Where you are required to submit an assessment by a specific deadline (for example, essays, case studies or physical artefacts) but you fail to meet the deadline, your mark will be reduced in accordance with the Late Submissions Policy.
