There are 2 parts to this assignment covering all 3 ILO’s and has a word limit of 2500 words.
The recommended word count for this part is approx 1500 – 2000 words. It covers ILOs 1 & 2.
You need to discuss evidence-based practice (EBP) and support your work using a variety of appropriate information sources.
You should include a definition of evidence-based practice (EBP) is to demonstrate your understanding & then explore why it is important that we use evidence within our practice. You should give examples within your work and there should be a discussion of the relevance of EBP in providing optimal care for women, birthing people, newborns & families in midwifery practice.
You need to support your work with relevant evidence by citing sources within the main body of your work and then producing a reference list of all of the sources used. Remember that sources need to be academic, such as journal articles and books, and be as recent as possible.
Although not essential at level 4, additional marks will be gained from analysing the evidence and discussing in detail. This involves considering whether the evidence is valid and whether all of the evidence agrees or if some evidence contradicts other.
The recommended for this part is 500 – 1000 words. It covers ILO 3. You need to write a reflection using a named reflective model of your choice.
You need to reflect on your strengths & areas for development in relation to written communication skills. Think about areas where you feel you have more skills and how they may be applied to your programme of study and practice. Remember to ensure you relate to written communication skills specifically, rather than communication skills generally. You need to do this to meet the ILO.
As per part 1, you need to support your points with appropriate evidence and information sources. The sources need to be academic and as recent as possible.
As part of your reflection, you should include an action plan of how you plan to develop your written communication skills.
You must declare the word count for the assessment (excluding reference lists, bibliographies, tables and the title of tables, graphs, and appendices) at the end of the written submission, situated before the reference list and bibliography. Falsification of the wordcount will be considered as academic malpractice.
Your work will be marked in accordance with the ILOs and the rubric – you can find the rubric on the module Blackboard site. Marking will follow UoC procedures for internal moderation as per the academic regulations. All work is marked anonymously, therefore please do not include any identifying information in your submission e.g. name, student number.
You need to submit your work on the Turnitin portal no later than 4pm on 6th November. Assignments must be submitted this way and will not be accepted by any other means.
