Individual Report, Max 3,000 words (there is NOT +/- 10%) and Reference List Page is not included in the Word Count.

You need to demonstrate your ability to 

• Research academic frameworks and use your critical thinking and capability in presenting a valid and realistic argument.
• Demonstrate your understanding of the New Venture Creation field of knowledge and practice by using academic theories and practical examples from the business world (especially the entrepreneurial content explained with our guest speakers).
• Demonstrate your understanding of entrepreneurial skills for setting up a New Venture and your entrepreneurial journey.

The deadline for your Individual Report is Tuesday, 13th May 2025 at 12:00:00 noon.

Attend the workshops and the lectures; ask questions, be active.

Key areas to consider in the Individual Report

• Research academic frameworks and demonstrate your critical thinking and your capability in presenting a valid, realistic and diplomatic argument.
• Make sure that you have attended the guest speaker sessions, and link your learning about New Venture Creation to their entrepreneurial journey
• You might want to use examples discussed in the lecture theatre and workshops (and/or bring new examples to demonstrate your research skills)

Appendices & visual support

You are allowed to use only ONE appendix, and it must be drawn (you can use Canva). 

You will be penalised if:

• The appendix is ‘copied and pasted’,
• The appendix is a table copied and pasted from another source of information
• The appendix is an image copied and pasted from the internet
• Please note, if you add more than one, you will receive a deduction of 5 marks.

Visuals within the text

You are allowed to use only ONE image, and the words in the images are part of the word count. 

You will be penalised if:

• If you use more than one visual within the text, you will receive a deduction of 5 marks.

To Summarise, you can have ONE Appendix and ONE Image within the text only, for a total of TWO visuals

Bibliography or Reference List – Not included in the word count 

References: Make sure you reference all internet sites correctly with the author, page title, website address and date accessed. A correct reference is one that the reader can type in and reach immediately. See the Leeds Harvard referencing examples page

The Structure of Your Individual Report

1. Introduction (max 300 words)

Briefly introduce the report, and introduce yourself as an entrepreneur, and the reasons for setting up a New Venture. Indicate the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem you want to be part of, and explain the reasons

• Think of which kind of entrepreneur you are going to be, and when (this means, you can consider working within a particular industry to get some experience to step up and become an entrepreneur
• Think of which entrepreneurial skills you have now, and how to develop entrepreneurial skills in the short and long term
• Think of an entrepreneurial ecosystem, and the industry you want to contribute to 

2. My Entrepreneurial Journey (max 1300 words)

You can design this part into two or three areas, and make sure you have appropriate headings that create a logical narrative 

• Discuss your interpretation of Business Creativity (see week 15)
• Discuss how you will create an entrepreneurial community (see week 16)
• Discuss your entrepreneurial motivations to set up a New Venture (week 17)
• Discuss how to craft your brand (week 18)

3. My Journey and other entrepreneurial journeys (max 1000 words) 

• What did you learn from Sam and Emma (Enterprise Ambassadors)?
• Which transferable skills from Sam and Emma will you bring in setting up your New Venture (even if it will be in 5 years)
• What did you learn from another speaker, in terms of ‘entrepreneurial skill’ to develop for your new venture? (weeks 20 – 21 – 22)

4. Conclusion

Write conclusive thoughts about what you have done, how you have done it, what you have learnt, and an entrepreneurial plan to set up your new venture

• What did you learn about yourself as a potential entrepreneur?
• Is your new venture feasible or not (or not yet)?
• What have you learnt from the guest speakers that can be beneficial to assess the process of setting up your new venture?
• What is the extra support to consider (within this module, and outside this module, Spark, other modules, Helix, other places etc.)?
