Assessment of Project Report ( Total Weighting (55%)
- It is recognised that an essential and substantial part of any project is the preparation and production of a report. The report, is the student's responsibility and in it, they are expected to demonstrate competence in identifying the aims of the project, state the scope and findings of the literature survey and assess their relevance to the given project.
- The report should also indicate the experimental/analytical / design procedures used, the decisions taken and the relevant theoretical predictions and practical results obtained.
- A critical discussion of the value of the work performed, conclusions, suggestions for further work and a bibliography should also be included.
- A final project report pro forma will be available via the e-learning portal. Although it is expected that the contents of the report are discussed with the supervisor, care should be taken to ensure it is the work of the student who submitted it and not that of the supervisor.
Learning Outcomes assessed in this assessment:
Knowledge & Understanding:
- Undertake an engineering problem from initial design to completion, whilst critically appraising the need for cost and planning of the project. (AHEP4 C1, C4)
Intellectual / Professional skills & abilities:
- Apply their existing engineering knowledge to identify the correct methods to solve a specific engineering problem. (AHEP4 C1, C3, C5, M5)
- Analyse complex problems, and select and apply appropriate computational and analytical techniques to solve a specific engineering problem.(AHEP4 C2)
- Apply a range of analytical, practical and manufacturing skills to a given engineering problem (AHEP4 C12, M12 )
Personal Values Attributes (Global / Cultural awareness, Ethics, Curiosity) (PVA):
- Consider the wider aspects of an engineering problem, including ethical, environmental, health and safety risk assessment, and security issues, with mitigation measures.(AHEP4 C8, C9, C10, M8, M9,M10)
- Plan, record and update your professional skill development throughout the programme towards developing employability skills (AHEP4 C18, M18)
