With the introduction of version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, secondary schools are revising their Year 7-10 science program. The Australian Academy of Science has released the Launch-Inquire-Act(LIA) evidence-based inquiry teaching framework to assist science teachers, including pre-service teachers, in revising school science programs. For Assignment 2, you will evaluate and modify an LIA teaching sequence generated using AI.
You are a new teacher in a secondary school where the Years 7-10 science units are being rewritten for the Australian Curriculum, version 9, using the Launch, Inquire, Act(LIA) planning framework of the Australian Academy of Science. The Head of Science at the school is keen to use AI to generate LIA teaching sequences for Years 7- 10 and has trialled the use of AI to draft a short teaching sequence for one year level. You have been asked to critically evaluate the draft AI teaching sequence and suggest modifications for discussion at the next staff meeting.
