Instructions to learners:  

The first part of the assignment is a written account of conflict within groups and organisational life. You will outline the different types of conflict and the causes of conflict in groups. Discuss the types of conflict that happen specifically in a work-place situation, explaining the role of conflict as you understand it. The function of conflict in the workplace both positive and negative and expressions of conflict, how conflict is demonstrated.

For the second part of this assignment, you will take part in two role-plays, each will demonstrate your negotiation skills and mediation skills, reflect on the two role-plays.  

In particular for your written assignment, you are required to: 

  • Explain the role, function, and forms of expression of conflict in group and organisational life.

For the roleplay, you are required to:

  • Discuss the role, function and styles of mediation and negotiation in managing conflict.
  • Demonstrate skills of conflict management in organisational life.

You are also required to include appropriate references and a reference list.  
You may present your project by a variety of means for example: video, presentation, poster, podcast, essay etc.
