The objective of this assessment is to assess your knowledge and performance in establishing the information needed, gathering, and critically analysing the information relevant to your own work.

This is a project-based assessment that assesses your knowledge and performance of the unit.
This assessment is in 1 part:

On completion of this assessment, you are required to submit it to your Teacher/Assessor for marking. Where possible, submission and upload of all required assessment files should be via the TAFE NSW online learning platform.
It is important that you keep a copy of all electronic and hardcopy assessments submitted to TAFE and complete the assessment declaration when submitting the assessment.
To achieve a satisfactory result for this assessment, you must answer all the questions correctly.
If a resit is required to achieve a satisfactory result, it will be conducted at an agreed time after a suitable revision period.

Indicative time: allow a minimum of 6 hours to complete this assessment.
This assessment will be completed outside of class in the student's own time.
In accordance with the TAFE NSW policy Manage Assessment Appeals, all students have the right to appeal an assessment decision in relation to how the assessment was conducted and the outcome of the assessment. Appeals must be lodged within 14 working days of the formal notification of the result of the assessment.
If you would like to request a review of your results or if you have any concerns about your results, contact your Teacher/Assessor or Head Teacher. If they are unavailable, contact the Student Administration Officer.
Contact your Head Teacher/Assessor for the assessment appeals procedures at your college/campus.
You must plan and write two literature reviews on topics related to health and human services. To do this, you must complete three tasks for both topics:
Task 1: Plan and gather information on each topic
Task 2: Analyse and present findings on each topic.
Task 3: Provide a reference list of information sources, using the APA Referencing style.
Your assessors will mark your responses using the criteria outlined in this document.
For each of the two topics, you should allow a minimum of:
1 hour to complete Task 1
2 hours to complete Task 2
To complete this assessment, you must select two of the following topics that are relevant to your professional context and work practices:
health informatics
patient/person-centred care
general social determinants of health
specific social determinants of health, such as:
For each topic, you then:
Gather at least three credible articles on the topic and explain how you did this by completing Task 1.
Analyse the information gathered and present your findings by completing Task 2.
Provide a reference list of the resources used in the APA referencing style.
Subheadings and sections have been provided to help keep the reviews on track.
Task 1: Plan and gather information
Address each of the following criteria for the first topic you have chosen. Ensure you take note of the word length guide provided for each criterion.
a) Introduce the topic you have chosen and explain how researching the literature in this area may support and improve your work practices. (50-100 words)
b) Provide a clear statement defining the purpose of your literature review. (10-50 words)
c) Outline the search methods you used to locate articles for your literature review and explain why these were appropriate. (50-100 words)
d) List 3 credible articles you located for your literature review and explain why you chose them and how they relate to your topic and research objectives. (75-150 words)
e) Describe how you organised the articles and information you gathered in a way that helped you to evaluate and use them in your literature review. (20- 60 words)
Task 2: Analyse and present findings
Use the following headings to analyse the 3 credible articles you selected in Task 1, and assess how their findings might be applied in your professional context.
a) Identify at least two current trends in this topic area that are discussed in the articles you selected and evaluate their relevance to your area of professional practice. (75-150 words)
b) Compare and contrast the 3 articles you selected and comment on their merits in terms of their:
i. Strength (the robustness of the studies)
ii. relevance to your professional context
iii. (statistical) reliability
iv. currency of the information.
(50-100 words)
c) Assess and discuss the feasibility of incorporating the findings of these articles into your professional context, and any benefits or risks associated with this. (50-100 words)
d) Identify at least one issue raised by these articles that requires further investigation. !(25- 75 words)
e) Identify at least one action you could take to implement the findings of these articles. (25-75 words)
f) Write a conclusion that summarises what you have learnt from the articles. (40-80 words)
