Business plan template- checklist
1. The problem and how you’ll fix it (1,150)
Background and context - 400 words
- Start off with a problem statement.
- Follow by evidence informed statement of problem and need.
- Include some detail about what has been done to try to address the problem
Your service–
- Your service is presented in 2 parts.
- Part 1- A narrative paragraphs describing your service - what it will do, where and when and how it’ll make money.250- 350 words
- Part 2- A set of SMART Goals about your service – you should have between 2-4 SMART goals.200-350 words
Sustainable Development Goals – 200 words
- List the SDG your project targets and why.
- Use the SDG language in your background, problem section and solution sections.
2. The market and marketing(300 words)
Who is your market? – 150 words
- Use the table provided to outline your market
Marketing strategy – 150 words
- How –How you’ll promote your service. Tools eg fliers, adverts
- Where – Online vs offline. Think more deeply than your blog or social media channels. What about this content will drive value into your product? Where is your product displayed? If you sell an intangible product, how would service users see visible evidence of your business? May cross over with the how section.
- Use bullet points.
3. Collaboration and competition (350 words)
Partnerships – 200 words
- Consider which organisations or service users might want to partner with you?
- Why would they want to work with you?
- How could they benefit?
- How would you benefit? / How they will help with marketing
- Consider challenges and ways to address these.
Competition - 150
- Who is your competition.
- Explain why you are different to them and add value.
- 150 words.
4. Managing risks and time (600 words)
Risk Matrix–200 words
- You will use the template provided.
- For risks in the red zone you will provide solutions for how you will manage these.
Gantt Chart –200 words
- You will use the template provided.
Monitoring and evaluation–200 words
- You need to provide a discussion about how you monitor and evaluate your service.
- These will be in bullet points.
- You will plot the timepoints where you will monitor and evaluate in the Gannt chart.
5. About you (600 words)
Mission statement and organisation values – 200 words.
- Bullet point your mission statement.
- List your values and a brief narrative about these.
Leadership approach – 400 words
- You must pick either Transformative or compassionate leadership + 1 other theory to discuss.
- Explain the theories you’ve chosen.
- Apply these theories to your topic - Why you’ve chosen them to for your service? Consider how these theoretical leadership approaches will enable your project to succeed. Link to challenges in H&SC sector.
- Reflect on how your own leadership style is corresponds to the theoretical approaches selected.
- Must use literature.
