BMA6105-20 Managing Sustainability Assignment 2, 2025/26

BMA6105-20 Assignment 2:

In this assignment you are being asked to reflect upon your learning and your personal response to the issues being raised throughout the module.

topics/themes/

You should structure your reflective report to address two areas:

  1. provide short, evaluative explanations of THREE insights/concepts that you have studied and found particularly interesting on the module (these might be for example, the concept of the circular economy, or the process of carbon footprinting)
  2. Reflect on your personal response to these topics, considering your reactions to and process of learning about these topics, and your evaluation of possible responses to your learning in terms of personal actions and the roles you play as a consumer, a citizen, and an employee/manager.

Tips and Pointers:

First, in your writing you must be able to demonstrate engagement and understanding of the module curriculum and some issues/themes which have been taught; this includes references to ideas, theory, and key authors. You must also demonstrate reflective thinking about your personal response to these topics in terms of actions that you may take due to your increased learning, potentially also reflecting on significant moments in the process of learning itself.

You may want to structure your reflections on personal responses around the roles you play in life, in particular the roles of a consumer, a citizen and an  employee. Consider how your learning impacts on choices and actions you may make in these domains. You should also consider both current and future choices and decisions that you may make.

General Format

-Consider a report title and title page.
Student number and name is clearly displayed on the front page of the assignment.
Each page is numbered.
Please use 1.5 spaced typing 11 points.
Each paragraph should be separated by line space/and paragraphs justified straight on right-hand side.
You may write in a mixture of 1st and 3rd person.

Assignment Rules and Regulations:

All assignments should be submitted on or before the due date unless an extension has been granted by the marking tutor.

Please check your Student Handbook for regulations and the assessment framework. Coursework must always be submitted by 23:59pm on the due date via VLE to Turnitin UK in electronic form (unless you are specifically advised otherwise).

Plagiarism checking (originality scoring) - Electronic versions of your text will be compared with millions of other essays, other coursework items and published works throughout the UK university system and an 'originality score' will be calculated automatically to help us check for any academic unfair practice.

Feedback on Assessed Work:

Your work is first assessed by the tutor(s) responsible for that item. Each item is graded against its criteria and a mark out of 100% is given. The tutor writes comments to indicate strengths and weaknesses, and suggestions on how to improve your work. It is important to read these comments if you wish to gain higher marks in future. Normally, we aim to return coursework within three weeks of the deadline.

Moderation - your work will be moderated by the module team and compared against the module cohort marking ranges. The moderation duration is normally 15 working days (please allow for unforeseen circumstances, holiday periods, bank holidays etc.)

-Academic judgement is final - though we are scrupulously fair, please note marking is not an exact quantifiable process. Academic judgement of the module team is applied in all cases.

Your mark will be final after the EE and the exam boards have verified the work/cohort.

Mitigation - Please refer to the Business and Management Student Handbook (available on Minerva) for details of how to apply for mitigating circumstances.

Referencing - All references MUST conform to the BSU version of the Harvard style of referencing. For further details about referencing using the Harvard style see Researching and referencing - Bath Spa University.
Resources - Please note that these sources appear in the Harvard style. This is the format you will need to use for all bibliographic entries made in your assignments.

BMA6105-20 ASSESSMENT 2: Marking criteria:

85-100
An outstanding piece of work which seamlessly integrates ideas from the module and other relevant sources with consideration of personal emotional, psychological, intellectual, and behavioural change. This piece of work reflects deeply on the impact of learning, in all senses, on the individual.

70-84
The work is clearly evaluative - you challenge, question, compare and contrast your sources. Description is only there to set the scene and provide a basis for explaining what is happening in terms of your own development. It demonstrates good explanation, understanding and evaluation of what the various sources are saying, and this is woven into a discussion of your own learning and development.

60-69
A good evaluation of the learning and developmental progress of the student discussed in relation to the material associated with this module. There is clear evidence of wide reading. A coherent piece of work which addresses the key requirements of the brief.

50-59
Learning and development are described but these are not supported with readings or other sources. Alternatively, there is reference to readings, but these are not related to any learning or development in the student.

40-49
The work mostly describes what was happening in class. It reports feelings and experiences but without trying to explain their causes. There is little or no attempt to weave the work of writers into an explanation of what is happening. Reading is limited and just inserted in the text without explanation or application. It is poorly understood. You really only refer to the readings you were required to prepare for class and no others.

35-39
There is some reference to the content of the module, but this is not presented in relation to the learning or feelings of the student. Reading is barely referred to.

0-34
The work does not meet the requirements of the brief. No specific learning is identified. The students journey throughout the module is not described. No reading or engagement with provided material evident.
