Assessment Overview:

This assessment requires you to write a 2,500-word individual reflective report based on a live event you have either attended as a participant/audience member or worked at (e.g., volunteer, intern, or staff) during the academic year. The aim is to critically reflect on the operational and experiential aspects of the event, connecting real-world observations with theoretical frameworks and best practices in events management.

Learning Outcomes Assessed:

By completing this assignment, studentswill be able to:

  1. Critically analyse the operational planning and delivery of live events.
  2. Evaluate the success and challenges of an event using appropriate models and frameworks.
  3. Reflect on personal learning and development within a real-world event context.
  4. Apply events management theories to practice, demonstrating critical thinking and insight.

Task Instructions:

You are required to:

  1. Choose an event you attended or worked at during your time at university. This may anything you feel meet the criteria of ‘an event’ such as a music event, corporate event, cultural celebration, sports match, charity gala, university event, etc.
  2. Write a structured reflective report that explores from 2-4 aspects of the event which could include:planning, content, experiential impact, delivery, impact or any other aspect related to your events management studies. You can take the perspective of an insider (and consider your experience working as part of the team and how the event was delivered) or as an attendee (reviewing how you think the event was delivered, what you thought its objectives were and whether it was successful).
