Take off the quantities for Masonry work under the ANZSMM. Use the following:
NOTE: If there are discrepancies between the specifications and the drawings, the specifications shall take precedence over the drawings, except where otherwise indicated AND shall be reasonable. Nevertheless, you are expected to make reasonable assumptions where necessary. State the assumptions.
General: All workmanship and materials shall be under AS 3700 section 8.
Bricks: Exposed external brick walls shall be built with face bricks throughout -Austral Brick Metallix (Colour: Platinum). All other brickwork to be built with common bricks. All brickwork shall be well articulated by the provision of full height joints under the BCA and the Cement and Concrete Association T.N. 61
Block: Blocks shall be 140mm / 190mm hollow concrete block work wall in stretcher bond
Brick Veneer: Brick veneer shall be 110 mm bricks in stretcher bond externally, and 90 x 45 timber studs internally with 40 mm cavity.
Bond and Mortar: Mortar should be mixed in the following proportion. Above Damp Course: 1 cement, 1 lime, 6 sand by volume (1:1:6)
Below Damp Course: 1 cement, 0.25 lime, 3 sand by volume (1:1/4 :3)
Joints: Joints in face brickwork shall be ironed.
Panels: Panels shall be 75mm thick Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) Hebel lightweight Power Panel XL, size 600mm X 2400mm, single mesh, fixed externally with relevant accessories by manufacturer's instructions and complying with AS 5146 (parts 1-3).
Window Sills: Build window sills in snapped header course face bricks and set to weather, laid in cement mortar (1:5). Note: "The architect didn't include window sills in the drawings, but the client wants them. Only brick sills will be added to ground-level windows."
Wall Ties: Provide 6mm diameter. stainless steel Abbey or approved equivalent as wall ties spaced at 450mm centres (max.) Each way.
Brick lintels: Provide hog-dip galvanised mild steel (MS) flat bars and angle lintels to support masonry over openings. These should have their ends 3 bearing 100mm min. Lintels are to comply with the following Table:
Windows Flashing: 0.5mm thick bitumen-coated aluminium strip as flashing in the following:

Order Non-Plagiarised AssignmentDamp Proof Courses (DPC): to AS3700, 0.5mm thk bitumen-coated aluminium strip. Provide a continuous membrane for the full length of the walls. Lap full width of angles and intersections with a max of 2 vertical courses per step in the following location:
Weep Holes: Weep holes commence on the DPC/flashing at the bottom of the cavity. It is placed 1200mm max. apart generally, in the form of open perpends to external leaves of cavity walls.
Cleaning Down: Clean all face brickwork with hydrochloric acid solution and wash off with clean water to remove mortar smears, stains, discolouration, and the like. Cleaning of masonry shall be carried out before the installation of roof cladding, fascia and guttering.
