Your Task

The strategic plan that you obtained for Assessment 1 is also to be used for Assessment 2, so that you can build on the work you have already completed.

The focus of this assessment is on development and implementation of human resource (HR) plans, drawing on the HR implications identified in Assessment 1.

In this Assessment you need to detail the implementation of a strategic HR plan for your organisation and how your organisation could go about utilising the human resource management (HRM) function to assist the organisation with achievement of its strategic objectives.

A range of HRM functions are to be discussed in detail and applied to the strategic HR plan for your subject organisation. These should form the basis of your HR plan for your subject organisation.

Assessment 2 also requires an overview of how to implement an HR plan for your organisation.

You should include examples from the strategic plan for your organisation as appropriate to support your answers along with further research of your own on your chosen company.

You may make assumptions about your selected organisation as long as they are clearly explained and reasonable.

Task 1: Strategic Approaches To Obtaining People

Consider the following HR management areas and discuss three (3) of the following concepts and how they could be applied to the organisation you selected in Assessment 1:

  • Job design and analysis.
  • Staff recruitment.
  • Diversity and EEO.
  • Staff selection.

Ensure your answer defines each concept and the steps and processes involved in it and discusses how it could assist your organisation to meet its overall strategic objectives as provided for in the organisation’s strategic plan. Strengthen your discussion by adding theoretical inputs and including examples from your organisation’s strategic plan as appropriate.

(Word count guideline: 700 words)

Task 2: Strategic Approaches To Maintaining People

Discuss how your organisation could incorporate any three (3) of the following HR management areas into its strategic HR plan:

  • Learning, training and development.
  • Induction.
  • Performance management and appraisal.
  • Reward and remuneration management.
  • Employee relations.

Ensure your answer defines each concept and the steps and processes involved in it and discusses how it could assist your organisation to meet its overall strategic objectives as provided for in the organisation’s strategic plan. Strengthen your discussion by adding theoretical inputs and including examples from your organisation’s strategic plan as appropriate.

(Word count guideline: 700 words)

Task 3: Implementing Your Strategic Human Resource Plan

Outline how you would advise your organisation on the implementation of a strategic HR plan. Your plan could include:

  • identification of resource requirements
  • allocation of responsibility (for example, between senior management, HR, line managers and employees)
  • measurable actions or goals
  • any problems and challenges that could be encountered
  • any other suitable considerations or actions to be considered in implementation of strategic HR plans.

Include examples from the strategic plan of your organisation in support of your answer as appropriate.

While you may be able to provide some material from the course learning materials and readings, your own external research is likely to be required to fully answer this task.

(Word count guideline: 650 words) (30 marks)

Presentation

Marks will also be awarded for presentation of the assessment. This includes:

  • appropriate structure including spelling, grammar, sentence structure, academic language, overall presentation and clarity for a Level 7 course (5 marks)
  • inclusion of a list of references in correct APA referencing style, including course readings and at least five scholarly sources (in addition to course material and readings) in support of concepts and theories discussed.(5 marks)
