7050CRB Assignment Task

This is an individual assignment based on a critical analysis of a real organisational issue and includes a presentation of findings and a proposal of a business divestment. To complete this assignment, you must choose ONE out of the THREE case studies videos provided. You will base your assignment on this chosen video. If you use a different case study to the ones provided you will fail and receive 0% grade.

The assignment consists of a 3,500-word equivalent portfolio of three tasks. To complete this assignment, you must:

  • submit a report of 1500 word meeting the needs of Task 1,
  • 1000 words briefing notes which meets the needs of Task 2A
  • submit a 2 slides NARRATED PowerPoint presentation with a total of 500 words of both narration and text on slide which meet the needs of task 2B.
  • Submit 500 words on the reflective personal and professional element
  • identified in Task 3 using a CMI code.

You would be assessed on ALL three tasks.

Task 1 – Choose one case study video.

Write a short report based on your choice of ONE out of three employer case study videos. The assessment case study videos are as follows.

  • Boxraw
  • Griffith Foods
  • Ebou Mala's children's charitable foundation

You are required to choose only ONE of the assessment case studies above.

Your report must include:

  • A critical and strategic analysis of the challenges/issues facing the organisation using ONE or more appropriate tool/s for this analysis. (10 Marks).
  • A critical evaluation of the leadership model/s and communication strategies of the organisation and its impact on employee and organisational culture and performance. (10 Marks)
  • THREE recommendations with justification, for enabling and improving the organisation’s performance. (10 Marks)

(1,500 words, 30% of marks)

Task 2A- Prepare a briefing note in an Microsoft Word document file based on the same video chosen in Task 1, addressing the three questions below. Word count is 1000 words max.

The questions to be covered in your briefing note are repeated here.

  • A critical appraisal of the phases in entrepreneurial practice from your new business venture’s idea phase to the delivery phase. This includes an appraisal of the benefits and funding sources for the proposed new business venture (10% Marks)
  • A critical analysis of the strategies for addressing or managing risk within the new entrepreneurial business venture that you have proposed to the organisation. (10% Marks)
  • A critical appraisal of the entrepreneurial traits, characteristics, skills and competences for strategic positioning of the newly proposed business venture to the organisation. (10% Marks)

(Task 2A briefing note- 1000 words, 30% of marks)

Task 2B– Based on your briefing note in 2A, and using the same assessment case study video in tasks 1 and 2A

Create 2 slides narrated power point presentation. The first slide will be your cover slide. This slide will have your students' no, your chosen assessment video/ organisation, timing, and word count. This presentation will last for 3 minutes. The guide to the maximum word count for your 3-minute narration is 300 to 400 words (for voice recording), and your actual slide could have up to 100 words. We recommend you use more visual expressions on your slides with less textual information on your slides since the task is a narrated presentation, and most textual information would have been captured in your narration.

(500 words, 20% of marks)

The second slide is the only narrated slide and will be 3 3-minute narrated presentation revealing the pitch of your briefing note, which should address the following questions/issues.

  • What informed your new business Idea and its benefit to the organisation?
  • An appraisal of the potential funding prospects for your newly proposed business idea.
  • A critical analysis of the risk associated with your proposed business venture and strategies for addressing or managing risk within the new entrepreneurial business venture.
  • A critical appraisal of the entrepreneurial traits, characteristics, skills and competences required for the strategic positioning of the new business venture

Please note: Consider your audience to be fellow employees and managers, including top senior managers and the Board of Directors within the case study organisation; therefore, your PowerPoint presentation must be professional in layout and your narration must be clear and convincing, using the right tonality and pitch.

Task 3: Personal and Professional Account

Write a reflective personal and professional account.

Create a reflective writing on one of the professional areas from the CMI Code of Conduct and Practice from www.managers.org.uk/code, ensuring you also elaborate further on how you would apply it to your own current or future professional career.

You can use a reflective model such as Gibbs, Kolb, Rolfe, Burton, etc, including any professional and systematic model.
(500 words, 10% of marks)

There is a 10% mark for referencing and structured format across the three tasks.

Do not rely on extensive use of tables to support your report – you are marked on the quality and rigour of your analysis, not the quantity of words per se.

Remember:

  • This is an individual assignment. You may not work in groups, formally or informally.
  • Your assessment of the organisation’s position and your recommendations MUST be based upon the Case Study video you have selected.
  • Task two of your assessment MUST be based on the same case study video that you selected in task one. This means that task two must be aligned with the analysis in task one.
  • Some wider research is beneficial, but it must not detract from your prime focus, which is the case study interview, CMI, module-related models, and content.
  • In your responses, you are allowed to make reasonable research-based assumptions about the case study details provided. However, the case study should not be changed or compromised in any way. If your analysis is not based on the case study interview, you will lose significant marks. If you use a different case study from the ones provided, you will fail and receive 0% grade
  • You need to apply a selection of the models, tools and methods that have been referred to in the seminar sessions and CMI learning journeys and discuss their relevance to the client’s situation, as you understand it from the Case Study interview.
  • You will lose marks by not applying evidence to the models and theories that you cite.
