7000SMM Assignment Task

The resit should be a rework of your first assessment (please see the brief you were given below) based upon the feedback you have received. In addition to improving your previous submission, you are also required to write a 300-word reflective account in which you discuss how you have taken into account the feedback on your first submission to amend your work, and how it now meets the Learning Outcomes.

Task: Individual (video) presentation

Select at least two advertisements from the same/similar industry as the Group Assessment that have been released in at least two different countries. Undertake a critical analysis of the advertisements of your choice, considering the cultural boundaries. Guidance on suitable video format and creation will be provided as part of your course.

NB. If either of the advertisements is not in English, please provide a translation.

The assessment should include:

  • Introduction to the advertisements (please provide a link to the original ads so the marker can review before grading - do not include playback of the videos within your
    presentation time).
  • Introduction to the markets and a critical discussion of their culture using the cultural framework/s you have chosen.
  • Conduct a reflective critical comparison of the ads using relevant theories.
  • Evaluate the challenges global marketers from this brand experience when operating across the two selected countries in the context of cultural and other boundaries.
  • Reference list (excluded from time limit).

Submission Instructions

The assessment must be submitted by 18:00 UK Time on 07/04/2025. No paper copies are required. You can access the submission link through the Aula page.

Submit the text of the pitch presentation plus the (working) video link and links, or copies, of both ads and references in a MS Word document to Turnitin. Include a cover page with module code and student ID. Working Links must be checked and provided to University OneDrive, or other, and ensure access is set to 'anyone with the link' to ensure it can be marked and moderated. If YouTube, it must be set to 'unlisted'.

Your coursework will be given a zero mark if you do not submit a copy of your accessible presentation links through Turnitin on the submission link on the correct Aula page before the assessment deadline. Please take care to ensure that you have fully submitted your work.

All work submitted after the submission deadline without a valid and approved reason (see below) will be given a mark of zero.

The University wants you to do your best. However, we know that sometimes events happen which mean that you can't submit your coursework by the deadline - these events should be beyond your control and not easy to predict. If this happens, you can apply for an extension to your deadline for up to 5 working days, or if you need longer, you can apply for a deferral, which takes you to the next assessment period (for example, to the RESIT period following the main Assessment Boards). You must apply before the deadline.

Students MUST keep a copy and/or an electronic file of their assignment.

Checks will be made on your work using anti-plagiarism software, and plagiarism will be checked.

Provisional marks will be released once internally moderated.
Feedback will be provided by the module team alongside the grades release.
Your provisional marks and feedback should be available within 2 weeks (10 working days.
