There are Two Tasks Associated with This Assessment

Task 1: Reflective piece on H&S and Risk Management 50% of module mark

Select a project or task at work where you (as an individual or as part of a team) solved a technical problem related to your professional pathway or an experience encountered in the module (for Building Services Engineering students, the engineering solution to the technical problems should be based on RIBA Stage 2). Describe the Health, Safety, and Welfare risks associated with this task/project and how you integrated your previously learnt Health and Safety, Hazard Identification, and Risk Management (RM) knowledge and skills in the solution. Investigate about the H&S and RM techniques, procedures or methods relevant to your chosen project and explain how the appropriate measures were selected (by you or your team) and what other measures could have been selected to further minimise the risks. Explain also how your solution met the project requirements and H&S legislation e.g. CDM regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, COSSH, RIDDOR, etc. Compile your work into a reflective piece. Provide a clear and contextualised explanation of the project and the H&S and RM decision process taken originally by you (or your team). Demonstrate good academic and professional practice during your investigation process.

• Employer/line manager approval form: Due to the nature of this project, it is essential that the line manager approval is obtained prior to submitting the final draft(s) of the coursework. Failure to provide this will result in failure for the Task.
• Word Limit: 2000 words +/-10%

Task 2: Professional development plan 25% of module mark 

Produce a professional development plan (PDP) for the period corresponding to May 2024 to May 2025. The PDP should identify how you are going to work towards meeting your ‘career- path requirements’. This plan should be based on the required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours contained in the standard specific to your apprenticeship and the requirements of your professional body to progress onto the End-point Assessment (e.g. the ICE’s Initial Professional Development (IPD) Attributes for an Incorporated Engineer, CIBSE’s Competence Criteria or RICS’s APC). Ensure your PDP is S.M.A.R.T. Discuss your plan with your Line Manager and Mentor(s). As a reference aim for a minimum of 8 activities in your PDP.

• There is no word limit for this task. 

a) Identify a professional development requirement contained in your plan that is not likely to be addressed within the course or by your employer during the period May 2024 to May 2025, and that you believe you could work towards during this semester (May 2024 to July 2024). To do this, select one or more Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities that address this need (as reference aim for 8 hours of CPD activities). Outline and agree your CPD plan with your module tutor, Line Manager and Mentor(s). Record and maintain evidence of the activities. Evaluate your progression towards the objective. Continuously reflect about your progress towards addressing this requirement.
