Percentage Grade (Applied Core Assessment). You will be provided with an overall grade between 0% and 100%. To pass the assignment you must achieve a grade of 40% or above.

Assignment Task

You are tasked to write an evaluation plan for a public health intervention. You have been provided with four different public health interventions that were carried out in developed (UK, France, and USA) and developing (Pakistan and Nigeria) countries.

Please select one of these five articles below and write an evaluation plan for its intervention. You can follow the links below to access the article of your choice:

Use the University formal cover page as covering page for your assignment. You can download a copy of this page from the module Aula site under assessment section. The title of your evaluation plan should indicate the intervention that you have selected to evaluate.

Example: “An evaluation of the effectiveness of increasing physical activity level amongst university students using group walks”.

1.Introduction (approx. 600 words):

Briefly describe the intervention that you will evaluate. In doing this you need to:

• Outline the overall aim and objectives of the intervention, the problem the intervention addresses, the nature and size of the problem, and how the intervention addresses the identified problem.
• Describe the people that are affected by this problem and will be targeted by the intervention.
• Describe the components of the intervention and critically assess the potential capacity for the intervention to bring about change and factors that may influence its success or failure.
• Discuss how the intervention fits into any wider context and what it should achieve to be considered successful.
• Use the Logic model (Inputs, Activities, Outputs, and Outcomes) to explain how the intervention works, with emphasis on how its components contribute to a chain of effects that result in its expected or actual impacts and outcomes.
• Please use the Logic model template provided in Aula.

2.Aim and Objectives of the Evaluation (approx. 100 words):

• You should have one aim that describes your evaluation plan and not more than three SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound) objectives that will be used to achieve the aim.
• Ensure that each of your objectives are designed to assess the three key evaluation methods, i.e., process, outcome, and impact evaluation.

3.Evaluation Plan (approx. 850 words):

The evaluation plan should discuss how you will manage the evaluation of this public health intervention. It should also clarify all the steps that you will use to assess the processes, impacts and/or outcomes of the intervention. You will be using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) to conduct this evaluation, which should focus on the following:

• Intervention characteristics (e.g., evidence strength and quality, adaptability, complexity, and cost)
• Outer setting (e.g., participant/patient needs and resources, and external policies and incentives)
• Inner setting (e.g., structural characteristics, cultural and implementation climate, and readiness for implementation)
• Characteristics of Individuals (e.g., knowledge and beliefs, self-efficacy, and other personal attributes)
• Process (e.g., planning, engaging, executing, and reflecting and evaluating)
• Summary of key barriers and facilitators

NB: Please use the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) evaluation template provided in Aula.

4.Analysis and interpretation (approx. 200 words)

Discuss how the information you collected after your evaluation will be analysed. This may involve:

• a quantitative method- descriptive statistics (e.g., frequencies, percentages, means, etc) and/or inferential statistics (e.g., t-test, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), simple regression analysis, etc.),
• a qualitative method (e.g., thematic analysis, content analysis, etc.), or
• a mixed methods approach (i.e., a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods).

In addition, discuss how you would interpret the results of your evaluation. This may involve:

• stakeholder involvement,
• different formats for lay and professionals,
• using main local dialects (languages).

5.Use, dissemination and sharing plan (approx. 300 words)

• Describe plans of how you will use the evaluation results and how you will disseminate the evaluation findings (e.g., journal publication, presentation at conferences, newsletters, reports, briefings, etc.).
• The dissemination plan should be presented using the template provided in Aula.

6.Summary (approx. 150 words)

Present the key takeaways from the evaluation plan. Please do not include any new information in this section.

7.References (not included in word count):

• Each claim you make in your paper should be fully supported by evidence (references).

Some past examples will be provided in Aula as a guide on how to complete each section of this assignment.

Please note the following regarding word limit:

• The word limit for this assignment is 2,000 words ± 10%.
• If you exceed this word limit by more than 10% i.e., if you exceed 2,200 words, then you will be penalised by deduction of 10% of your final mark for the short essays.
• Work that is more than 30% above the allocated word limit (i.e., 2,600 words or more) will only
  be read up to the allocated limit.
• There is no specific penalty for the coursework below the word limit, but if you have not used the full allowance, you will likely not have included sufficient breadth nor detail.

Submission Instructions:

Submission is via the Turnitin link found under the assignment tab in the 6003PUB Aula page. Please submit your assignment in a Microsoft Word Format. You can submit drafts of your assignment via this Turnitin link to check your similarity score prior to making your final submission. You may submit multiple times to this link but do remember that obtaining a similarity report may take up to 24 hours after the first three submissions. Remember that submission may take some time to complete, so aim to submit several hours before the deadline.

When emailing a completed assessment following issues to the module leader, do NOT open your assignment after the assessment deadline- this allows us to confirm that you have not edited the assessment after the deadline.

How will I receive my grades and feedback?

Provisional marks will be released once internally moderated.
Feedback will be provided by the module team alongside grades release.
Once the marking team have released your grades, you can view your feedback and the grade achieved by following these steps:
1.In your Aula module, go to Journey > Assignment.
2.Select the assignment you'd like to view – a Turnitin popup will be launched.
3.Click on the Grade to the right of the screen to open the Feedback Studio.
4.You will see your grade, rubrics, any feedback added by the marker in the column to your right. Your provisional marks and feedback should be available within 2 weeks (10 working days).
